May Baskets

Here's two of the May baskets I made. I used textured wallpaper to make a cone, which is held together by one brad. Then I used acrylic paints to color the wallpaper. I added some Sprinkles glitter and a gold pen for accents. I painted paper doilies with gold paint and glued them inside the cone. I made a hanger using trims and ribbons. I decorated a tag for each of the baskets and put the recipient's name on the tag. I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and found a similar project in the current issue of Somerset Home.

Oh Wendee those are lovely! What did you put inside? Who are you going to give these to, friends, family?? Are they random gifts? Just curious because I don't know anything about May baskets. TFS xxoo Astrid

Hi Wendee - you don't know me, but I saw your blog address on Astrid's blog and came to check yours out. I love your work.

I'd also like to suggest, if it's not too forward of a stranger, a book that I read after my own mother died. I was sorry to read of your loss and I remember well that nothing really makes you feel better for quite a while. The book is called "Motherless Daughters" by Hope Edelman. I'm currently reading her most recent book, "Motherless Mothers," as I have been experiencing a reoccurance of the grief since my daughter was born, even though it's been 22 years since my mother died. For me, it's helpful to understand the process I'm going through.

Good luck to you. I would like to put your blog on my link list - your work really is fabulous - but I'd like your permission before I do because I can see that your entries are very personal. Please let me know.

Let me know if I there's anything I can help you with as far as your mom, too.

It's nice to meet you,
Laurie
